Q. 1 These days a lot of technology is used at school. what kind of technology do you usually use at school?
I use a computer very often at school when I need to do my homework or work on a project and I think I use a computer for my project for three hours per day on average. I also use a computer in the library when I need to search for information and check out books. computer help me finish my homework faster and efficiently I need to use printer to submit my paper, and also need a copier when I make copies for my team members without a copier, I would have to handwrite everything and it would take a lot of time

Q. 2 Can you tell me about the merits and drawbacks of the high technology? How has the technology changed your school life?
The advantages of the advanced technologies we use at school are that it makes both the professors and students lives more convenient and that it improves students learning. we do not have to handwrite reports or handouts. in addition use of the internet helps us find research and resources online easily and provides a better learning environment. however while working on the computer for study, students can get distracted by the use of the internet.

Q. 3 What kind of technologies did you use the most recently? a mobile phone, laptop computer or maybe any other devices... please tell me about your experiences using tehnology
I use my laptop at school quite often when I need to do homework because there is wi-fi internet access at school. so I can get on the net and find resource for my assignments online easily. in addition when I study english I can use the online dictionary. it I don't have my laptop with me, I use my cell phone as a dictionary too some times I use my laptop to take notes in class because it is more convenients and typing is faster than handwriting.

Q. 1 what do you usually do on weekends? please describe your typical weekend in detail for me
When the weekend comes around, i'm usually beat from studying and hanging out with friends so I like to chill and take a rest at home. I usually borrow tons of books from the library on Friday and start reading them as soon as I wake up on Saturday. also, shopping is one of my favorite things to do. but I'm too lazy to go out. so I do a lot of online shopping as well. It the weather is too nice to stay inside then I would call up my friends and plan something then and there.

Q. 2 What did you do last weekend? tell me about your last weekend in detail
It was my friend's birthday last weekend we went to very nice korean restautant and the food was awesome. after dinner my friend and I said good bye to her family and met up with some other friends. first we went to my friend's favorite bar for some drinks then we went to a 노래방. 노래방 is a private room with a 가라오케 machine and we love this place. we were stayed there for about 3 hours. we were too tired to stay out anymore so we all went home afterward. on Sunday I was still wxhausted so I stayed home all day trying to recover from the night before.

Q. 3 What kinds of things do you like to do at home on weekends? where do you go when you don't stay at home on weekends?
When I am not doing anything special on the weekends I usually stay home and watch TV or read books as I don't have much time to do so during the week. these days i'm into a show called 뜨거운 형제 it's about ~~~~I also love cooking so I often cook for my family my favorite dish to cook is 김치볶음 and it's easy to make. when I am not staying at home I am usually out doing thing with my friends. I love movies so when there's a new movies coming out I would either download it online or go check it out at the theater.

Q. 1 Please tell me about your neighbors what kinds of neighbors do you have? are you close to them?
Actually I am not close to my neighbors but I see them now and then in the apartment complex my neighbors are mostly young parents with little kids and the kids are quite loud. I talk to the kids from time to time then I run into thm in the elevator or at a store. it seems like the majority of the neighbors are working people. because I see a lot of them in the morning during rush hour. there is a single lady living alone next to my house. I see many people coming to visit her on weekends but I usually don't see her.

Q. 2 Have you talked with you neighbors recently? when was it? what did you talk about?
I didn't talk to my neighbors much the most recently time I talked my neighbors was at a community meeting two months ago that I attended instead of my mom before the meeting ended one of the neighbors asked me what I did and how old I was. I told them that I was a college student and they started asking me. what university I was going to and what my major was. and then the asked me if I wanted to teach their kids who are six or sever years old, however I had to say no because I didn't think I could handle young children.

Q. 3 Please tell me about most memorable experience you had with your neighbors when was it what did you with them? did anything interesting happen?
When we had a heavy snow last winter, a lot of the residents in the apartment compex cam out to shovel the snow some children started bringing a sled or a big plastic bag and then, they went sledding on the hill near the parking lot. one of them was living in the apartment above mine and I have talked to her a few times in the elevator before I used out acquaintance to borrow her sled and she let me use hers. even though I was a little tired from shoveling and playing in the snow it was a great experience that I had with my neighbors

Q. 1 Can you tell me about the seasons in you country? what is each season like? how's the weather in each season?
there are four seasons in my country. in spring it is still a little cold until the beginning of April. flower are in full bloom around may. in summer which starts around June the weather gets very humid and hot and you can see many green trees. in fall, the weather gets cooler and is perfect for any outdoor activities. the leaves change their colors to red and yellow and this creates a spectacular view. then it gets colder and colder and winter comes around December. it snows and the temperature drops below zero degrees celsius.


Q. 2 What kinds of activities do people usually do in you country in each season? what are the most popular activities in each season? please tell me about it in as much detail as possible.
In spring and fall it is so beautiful in the mountains therefore a lot of people go mountain climbing or hiking. also the weather is mild during these seasons, so people go on picnic to the parks or lakes. in summer, swimming is the most popular activity among people due to the hot weather. in winter skiing and snowboarding is the number one activity. people go to the east coast where most ski resort are located.

 

Q. 3 I'd like to know about your favorite season of the year. why do you like it? do you have any memorable experiences that happened in that season?

Among the four seasons, I like fall the most. in fall the temperature is moderate and the nice weather enables me to do a lot of outdoor activities. last fall I went to 설악 mountain with my family. at the cabin we ate a lot of food that we brought from home and played card game at night. next morning we climbed up the mountain. even though it was tiring and exhausting, we arrived on the top of the mountain. we felt very happy because we were there together and made it to the peak.

Q. 1 Can you tell me about the public transfortaion system in you country? what kind of public transprotation do you like? and why?
In korea, there are various kinds of public transfortation such as buses, subways, and taxis. we even have a certain type of bus called 마을버스. I like buses just because I can enjoy the view outside. so I usually take buses when the weather is nice. however if you stuck in traffic, there's not much you can do
 
Q. 2 What are the pros and cons of public transportation in you country?
The first thing that comes to mind is its convenience. it's so well set up that you can get wherever you want just by using public transports. also it's very cheap compared to other countries. however there are too many koreans who lack public etiquette when they are on public transportation.
 
Q. 3 There has been huge progress in the public transportation system to make our lives more convenient. what progress have you been experiencing and how is it affecting the lives of the people living in you city?
In my opinion I think getting the transfer discount is the biggest progress. the transfer discount is when you transfer from a bus to subway or vice versa, you will receive up to 100% discount depending on how far you travel. for an ordinary citizen, we can save a lot of money and who wouldn't want that! so there are more people using public transportation these days.

Q. 1 I'd like to know about the educational system in you country. how long do people have to go to school to complete formal education? how many classes are there in schools?
In korea attending elementary and middle school is mandatory. there are six grade levels in elementary school and usually students enter the elementary school. after elementary school they go to middle school which take three years to finish. then they go to high school which has three grade levels, therefore It takes a total of 12 years to finish formal education. these days the number of classes is about 13 in each grade level. after formal education going to a two-year college or a four-year university is the students' choice.
 
Q. 2 Can you tell me about english education in you country? how did you learn english as a second language? please tell me about it in as much detail as possible.
When I learned english at school, I had korean teachers teaching english. usually, the curriculum focused on grammar, listening and reading skills and they were mostly test preparation. the teachers made students memorize reading passages and words. we took practice tests once a month. we barely had a chance to use practical english, so even though we were good at english grammar and knew a lot of vocabulary, we were very bad at speaking and writing.
 
Q. 3 There might have been changes in public school education in you country. what are they? what do you think is the most important way to improve public education in you country?
When I went to school, memorization was considered to be the best way to learn. also we had a lot of students in each classroom, and the class was teather - centered. however now days there are fewer students in a classroom and this enables teachers and students to interact. I believe the teachers should make an effort to improve their instruction, so the students' learning can also be enhanced.

Q. 1 Can you tell me about the different identification cards you have now? when do you usually use each card?
Right now I have 3 different kinds of Id cards in my purse. they are my citizen registration card, student ID and driver's license. in korea when you turn 19years old, you are supposed to apply a citizen registration card. it"s a national ID card so it is used whenever you have to identify yourself. my student card can also be used as a bank card and library access card. when I am driving car, I put driver's licence in my purse just in case I get pulled over bya police officer.
 
Q. 2 Please tell me about the procedure you went through to get an ID card. what did you do first and what did you do next?
Let me tell you about the procedure I went through to get my driver's license. in korea you can get a driver's license either through a private driving institute or by yourself. In my case I asked my father to teach me how to drive when I was in high school so I did it all by myself. first I had to take an hour long traffic safety education course and then get a physical check up. after that I took a written test. then I signed up for driving test. when I passed that I was given a practice driver's licence. then I took a read test and I finally got my driver's licence.
 
Q. 3 Please tell me about the first ID card you got. how did you feel when you got it? when do you usually use it?
The first ID card I got was my citizen registration card. I got it when I was 18 years old. basically, I need it when I need to identify myself. for example I need to present my citizen registration card when I open a account at a bank, when I take an official test, or when I order alcoholic beverages at a bar

The police officer in korea do their best to keep civilians safe. their major duties include investigating crimes, finding criminals and searching for missing people. they also control traffic so that there is no confusion among the drivers. as well whenever there is a violent protest in the city the police officers are there to keep aggressive protesters from harming anyone.
 
Q. 2 Please describe typical police officers in you country. how are they dressed? what does a police car look like? tell me about it in as much detail as possible.
The police officer in korea wear a dark blue uniform and a dark blue hat. they also wear black shoes and carry a small gun and a baton. you can see them driving in a white police car with a blue and a yellow stripe and a siren on the roof.
 
Q. 3 Do you have any experiences or memories related to the police? maybe you had help from a police officer or you might have seen a police officer on TV or in films. tell me what you remember about the police officer.
Once I lost my wallet. there were my credit cards and ID cards in the wallet so I was very frustrated. I thought I wouldn't be able to get it back, but then I got a phone call from a police officer and he said that he found my wallet.

Q. 1 Can you tell me what you can see in the countryside? what does it look like in you country?
When you're in countryside, the first thing you notices is the mountains. in the countryside because of cleaner air and no skyscrapers, it's easier to enjoy the view of the mountains. in the countryside very quite and peaceful. when the night falls, it becomes pitch black. it's perfect for stargazing.
 
Q. 2 What are some differences between living in the country and living in a city? how are they different from each other? tell me about it in as much detail as possible.
Living in the country and living in a city are totally different from each other. big cities never sleep in korea. and you don't necessarily need a car since the public transportation is so well set up. on the other hand the streets are always backed up with cars and dirty with trash. in the countryside you need some sort of your own transportation because there are buses but they only run every 30minutes or so. and finish very early in the evenings. however you have a very tight and intimate neighborhood which is very hard to find in a city as a lot of city people don't have any interactions with their neighbors these days.

Q. 1 Tell me about farmers in you country. what are their lives like? what kinds of things do they grow?
Many young people who born in countryside move to a big city to get a job so these days, it's very hard to find young farmers in korea. they wake up very early in the morning to start their day working in the fields or ranches. in korea farmers grow all kinds of crops, vegetables and fruits.

Q. 1 What are you wearing today?
I'm wearing a pair of blue jeans and a green T-shirt. the sleeves of the T-shirt are so long they cover my hands. my socks are white and there are two black tripes around the ankle. and I am wearing a watch on my left wrist.
 
Q. 2 Please describe the fashion trends in your country. what kind of clothes do young people like to wear these days?
I see a lot of ladies wearing skinny jeans or leggings with big sweaters. they also wear ugg boots or normal leather boots. leather jackets are also common among women. for guys wearing a black or gray cardigam is in fashion. and lately more and more guys are wearing chino pants.
 
Q. 3 Do you think we should follow the latest fashions? if so tell me why.
I don't think we should try to follow the latest fashion styles for two reasons. firstly I think fashion is one of the ways to show our individuality. secondly every season and every year the trends in fashion change.

Q. 1 What is the biggest holiday in your country? How do you celebrate it? What do you usually do on the holiday?
추선 is the biggest holiday in my country. 추석 is a kind of harvest festival and we have a three-day holiday in autumn to celebrate it. It brings together our family for a big feast of Korean traditional food. We travel to our hometown every year and the roads are very crowded with a lot of cars. It is very important to pay respects to our ancestors by visiting their graves and giving some foods as offerings. On 추석 we usually eat various kinds of food with our family. One of the major foods is 송편 which is a kind of steamed rice cake. in the evening we make a wish to the full moon

There are about seven major banks that korean people commonly use. Each bank has its branches everywhere throughout the country. Banks in Korea open at 9:00 and close at 4:00. You can easily find any bank branches on every corner. Banks are crowded with many people especially at lunch time.

Bank tellers are the first people that customers can see at the bank. They are mostly very friendly when they talk with their customers. Unlike a bank manager or other bank workers, tellers wear uniforms. One of the teller's jobs is offering information about customer's accounts and band services.
